Overview

Dental sleep medicine is one of the fastest-growing fields in dentistry, but it has also been a source of frustration for many dentists. After investing in courses and equipment, many are left without a clear strategy for integrating dental sleep services into their practice, leading to unmet expectations.

Sleep apnea affects an estimated one billion people worldwide, though only one in five cases is diagnosed. The dental office is often the first place where a detailed examination of the oropharyngeal airway occurs. In 2017, the American Dental Association recognized the essential role of dental offices in identifying and managing sleep apnea, recommending comprehensive evaluations of airway anatomy and function as part of routine dental care.

This official American Sleep and Breathing Academy (ASBA) course provides a turnkey introduction for dental practitioners to incorporate sleep dentistry into their practice.

ASBA Courses and Instructors

American Sleep and Breathing Academy (ASBA) courses are redefining successful weekend courses in dental sleep medicine. ASBA courses are led by highly experienced ASBA Diplomates (D’ASBA), focusing on equipping attendees with the skills necessary to integrate sleep apnea dentistry into their practice.

A key distinction of ASBA’s approach is its policy prohibiting vendor-specific presentations unless competitive or comparable products are included. This fosters open discussion on clinical best practices and revenue enhancement models, promoting a comprehensive understanding among participants.

ASBA Diplomates

Each Diplomate instructor presents their personal strategic plan and shares the key decision points that make or break a new practice. This allows attendees to test their understanding of the ASBA standard of practice through open discussion.

Real-World Practices

Each Diplomate presenter operates a successful sleep practice generating more than $1.5M annually. No two practices are the same, and each course features a minimum of three D’ASBA presenters. Attendees receive personalized advice and step-by-step instruction to help achieve success in their developing sleep business.

“Training in sleep apnea dentistry has become rife with individuals overstating their abilities and experience, selling substandard equipment at inflated prices to clinicians who simply want to treat their patients.”

— David Gergen, ASBA

“This past weekend, more than half of the attendees had attended more than one vendor-sponsored seminar in the last year. As a group, none had managed to gain traction with sleep apnea dentistry in their practice.”

— Rudi Ferrate, ASBA

ASBA courses are more than a series of presentations. The Academy is your ally, helping members build their practices using proven methods. All courses are taught by successful dentists who have built sleep practices generating over $1.5 million annually.

ASBA courses are unique, affordable, and designed to give you the tools to perform at the level of the mentors. Many past participants have described these courses as the most vital, essential, and powerful dental sleep learning experiences they have ever attended.
